Abstract A total of 83 Norway rat hosts were captured and examined for their endo and ectoparasites. Besides, they were tested for their resistance to anticoagulant rodenticide ”warfarin”. Two endoparasitic and nine ectoparasitic zoonoses were recorded. The infection rate of helminthic parasites was 78.31 %. Location has no effect on infection percentages. Males and matures were more likely to be infected than females and immatures. 77.2% of Rattus norvegicus were infested with at least one ectoparasite. Location alterations and host age influence the ectoparasite prevalence and indices but the host sex did not. R. norvegicus resistance rate to warfarin was 11.9%. Analyses of VKORC1 revealed three previously recorded mutations: I82I, V29L and E155K. The mutations V29L and E155K are reported to confer resistance to warfarin. In addition to three new mutations: I133L, H28Y and P154P |
