Abstract The thesis aimed at studying the individual and combined effect of high intensity ultrasonic treatment and Ca addition on microstructure and mechanical properties of the hypereutectic Mg{u2013}5 wt.%Si alloy. The investigated alloy without and with different treatments were characterized using optical microscope, scanning electron microscope, field emission scanning electron microscopy and X{u2013}ray diffraction in addition to mechanical tests such as tensile, hardness and wear.
