Social studies are generally a wide field of information and historical events that need to be interpreted, analysed and criticized, which raises the thinking of students to know the past and predict the future, and requires the nature of the subject of social studies to deal with historical attitudes and events and examine and analyze them to understand their meaning and compare each other. It is very important to draw conclusions and lessons learned from them to focus on criticism and to collect historical evidence from diverse sources even they are original or secondary and how to deal with modern tools for obtaining information. (Youssef, 2011: 18)
Historical thinking is one of thinking types that education seeks to give to learners through their study of the history curriculum in particular, and a set of skills that the learner needs in his daily life in which he interacts with others and has a great effect on them or even they influence him. So,the learner is in constant need of a historical pattern of thinking to identify the motives of others, to understand the relationships between causes and results, to deduce the facts from everything that is read and heard, as well as to collect, examine, link facts and come up with an independent judgment supported by evidence and the realization that each result can be considered an acceptable or rejectable imposition in the light of the existing evidence (Bates, 2018: 61).
The nature of historical thinking skills stems from the position that thinking has become one of the educational objectives of all subjects, primarily history, a good understanding of history requires the participation of all students in meditation and good thinking in events, by raising questions and overcoming the facts contained in reading books, as well as examining historical records themselves, and comparing the multiple views of the historical event in its frame time, and this makes the development of thinking skill a goal of teaching history. (Kazamil, 2008: 145)
Hassan (2006:157-158) determined the primary sources in (documents, antiquities and currencies) and defined coins (currencies) as the official currency in the country ,that help us to adjust dates and names and shed light on the political, economic and religious development of the state, and that currencies are important source of original historical sources that contribute to the creation of a intellectual, meditative, critical and creative student capable of researching, investigating and issuing judgments.
The importance of currencies is evident in the emergence of a different science concerned with the study of coins, namely, the science of coins orcurriences. This science is considered one of the important sciences in the study of history aspects. Currency provides a valuable historical material for history with its images of gods ,kings, princes, their names , the memories of historical incidents, and the years of its beating. The Greek currency, for example, reveals many facts in the history of political groups that had a private entity that enabled them to coin this currency. The existence of some of these groups was known only through their currency, which history has saved it from loss. For many decades, the science of currencies has been studied as one of the important scientific disciplines of archaeology, which is concerned with studying (the financial environment of the human past, which includes subjects that can be seen, felt, measured and categorized) (Anaswa, 2016: 159) (Abdullah, 2017: 12)
In addition to the historical role of the currency, there is an economic role in the profits made by Egypt from currency museums, whether through visiting museums or buying currencies, there is a constant contact between the Interest of the Egyptian Coin Mint, from collectors of currency and from the role of international railways specialized abroad to buy Egyptian commemorative currencies, in exchange for paying their value in dollars, which achieved huge profits for Egypt through the sale of currencies. (Hassoun, 2014: 12)
Gibbon explained (2017: 120) that the currency is a hidden political message, for example, the American company Bradford coined a commemorative coin on the occasion of the 75th anniversary of the Allied victory in World War II and was among the inscriptions on the coin flag (France, Britain, America) while the flag of the Soviet Union, which the Allies participated in their war on Nazism, disappeared. Therefore, the value of the currency is not limited to trade or sale and purchase.
