Abstract
About 78.6% of ductal plate malformation paediatrics had isolated congenital hepatic fibrosis, the remaining patients had polycystic disease.There were no significant differences between both groups regarding age, sex, or presence of positive family history.Also, degree of hepatic fibrosis was comparable.The commonest presenting symptom of ductal plate malformation was abdominal enlargement followed by hepatosplenomegaly.Hemoglobin, platelets, and bilirubin were comparable between isolated congenital hepatic fibrosis patients and polycystic disease patients.Liver apparent diffusion coefficient was lower in patients with ductal plate malformation when compared to healthy control.Liver anisotropy was comparable between ductal plate malformation patients and healthy control.Apparent diffusion coefficient and fractional anisotropy of different organs as spleen, left and right kidneys were comparable between ductal plate malformation patients and healthy control.A statistically significant inverse correlation was found between age at diagnosis and left kidney apparent diffusion coefficient. No correlation was found between other parameters and other MRI findings.best detected liver apparent diffusion coefficient cutoff point is 1.65 yielding sensitivity of 90%, specificity 90.0% and total accuracy 85.4%.There was statistically significant inverse correlation between grade of liver fibrosis and liver apparent diffusion coefficient as it had the highest values among lowest hepatic fibrosis grade and the lower values were reported in advanced grades.There was no significant correlation between hepatic fractional anisotropy and grades of hepatic fibrosis
