Abstract The most prevalent form of tricuspid valve pathology is functional tricuspid regurgitation (TR), and tricuspid intervention is increasingly advised. The purpose of this study was to compare the short-term outcome of TV repair using Dacron band versus De Vega technique. The research was carried out between January 2021 and December 2022. Twenty patients were treated for functional TR with tricuspid annuloplasty utilizing a fashioned Dacron flexible band. Repair without a band by De Vega technique was done in another twenty patients. Mitral valve replacement or repair and mitral-aortic valve replacement were performed concurrently in most of the patients. Clinical follow-ups to determine functional status (NYHA) and echocardiography were used to judge on success of repair after 3 and 6 months Preoperative characteristics of the two studied groups were statistically similar. The difference of chronic AF after the operation was not significant when the two repair techniques were compared together; p value was 0.7085 on discharge. The recurrence of tricuspid regurgitation was insignificant for study groups. Around 85 % of patients in De Vega group and 90 % in Band group did not have TR on discharge and after 6 months of follow up. Most of the patients had either no regurgitation or mild TR. one patients (5%) in DV group and one patient (5%) in Band group had moderate TR. |
