Abstract The aim of the study was to assess the beneficial effect of PRP, in healing process and pain improving property, we performed a prospective randomized controlled trial included 50 patients aged between 18 -50 years old underwent bilateral partial inferior turbinectomy. After turbinate reduction, one side was treated with PRP enriched nasal pack and the other side was the control side the pack was enriched with saline. All patients included in the present study had been subjected to detailed history taking, general and local clinical examination, as well as laboratory and radiological investigations, in addition to preoperative nose examination. Our results revealed that mucosal healing was noted to be better in PRP treated side, particularly after 1 week postoperatively, with documented less incidence of crustation and synechia formation. Pain scores were less on the PRP treated side through the post-operative period.Bleeding also was less in the test side while the pack insitu and when removing the pack. The preliminary results from this study, supported by literature, have revealed that PRP was beneficial in the healing process after partial inferior turbinectomy. |
