Abstract

The present study is carried out to estimate the environmental radiation hazard in El-Missikat and El-Aradiya investigation Areas, Central Eastern Desert in Egypt, and their surrounding areas by measuring the Radon concentrations with Sold State Nuclear Track Detectors SSNTDs (CR-39) and some other important radiometric measurements using NaI(Tl) Gamma ray spectrometers. The research study is divided into two parts; The first part is concerned with 33 samples collected from El-Aradiya Area and the second part is concerned with other 34 samples collected from El-Missikat Area. A comparison between the results of all samples using CR-39 detectors for all samples is given. The radiometric measurements were done to assess different radiological parameters such as specific activity (A), Isotopic activity ratios, Radium equivalent (Raeq), hazard indices (Hint.–Hext.), gamma index (Iγ) & alpha index (Iα), utilization index (I), Excess Life Cancer Risk (ELCR), exposure rate (ER), dose rate (DR), absorbed gamma rate dose (D), Annual Effective Dose Equivalent (AEDE), Annual Dose Equivalent (ADE), effective dose rate (Dorgans), Annual Gonadal Dose Equivalent (AGDE). The Uranium, Thorium, and Radium equivalent values were also calculated in part per million (PPM) and Potassium percent.
