Abstract Seizures are one of the common causes of hospitalization in children causing significant morbidity and mortality. Seizures are defined as a transient occurrence of signs and symptoms resulting from an abnormal, excessive, or synchronous neuronal activity in the brain. They account for about 2% of the visits to the emergency department Aim of study: This study will be carried to: 1) Describe the pattern of seizures among cases admitted to Pediatric department at Al-Arish central hospital in North Sinai and compare results with national and international similar studies . 2) Provide the basic descriptive information that is necessary for planning future studies. Patients and methods: a descriptive, cross sectional hospital based study conducted at Pediatric department at Al-Arish central hospital in North Sinai from June 2019 to May 2020. Patients: Children from the age of 1 months to 18 years visited Al arish central hospital at North Sinai. Technical design: 1-Data was collected using semi structured questionnaire through interview of the patient care givers. The data collected in the questionnaire) Appendix) included: Socio demographic, perinatal factors, developmental history related factors, family history and parenteral consanguinity, past history, and convulsions characters related factors. |
