Abstract Bipolar TURP is preferable to monopolar TURP due to a more favourable peri-operative safety profile as elimination of TUR-syndrome(8). Technological advances in recent years has led to the emergence of the enucleation procedures for BPH, involving various laser and plasma approaches(14). The current study was designed as a prospective trial to compare between bipolar transurethral enucleation and bipolar transurethral resection of the prostate from 60 to 100 gm. The patients were randomized between B-TURP (20 patients) and B-TUEP (20 patients). The preoperative, intraoperative, and postoperative data of different indicators were compared between the two groups. The follow-up was done at 1, 3 and 6 months after the surgical treatment. Regarding the operative time, it was significantly longer in B-TUEP than B-TURP with mean 101.25 min and 66.25 min respectively while B-TURP group showed more haemoglobin DROP than B-TUEP with mean -1.4 for B-TURP and -0.88 for B-TUEP. |
