Abstract

Aim: This clinical study aimed to evaluate, the impact of TITACH and locator attachments on the retention and maximum bite force of mandibular implant overdenture.Materials and methods: Eight completely edentulous patients with insufficient retention and stability of their conventional mandibular denture were eligible for this study. Two dental implants were in mandibular canine regions. After 3 months, four patient received mandibular overdenture with Locator attachments (group I) and the other four patients. Retention and maximum bite force measurements were performed at time of insertion (T0), 3 months (T3), and 6 months (T6) after insertion of the previous mentioned prostheses. Results:, TITACH was associated with the highest retention forces, followed by locator and the least retention forces was noted with complete denture. For all times of measurements, TITACH was associated with the highest maximum bite forces, followed by locator, and the least forces were noted with complete denture Conclusions: The TITACH attachment for retention of mandibular overdentures showed increased retention and maximum bite force compared with Locator attachments. Both attachments reported increased retention and maximum bite force compared with conventional denture
