Abstract Ventricular septal defect (VSD) and atrial septal defects (ASD) are the most common form of congenital heart disease.New echocardiographic imaging modalities (Tissue Doppler echocardiography, speckling tracking, and real time 3 dimensional echocardiography) offer new methods to assess regional myocardial function quantitatively and are now available on recent echocardiography machines. This study aimed to investigate the feasibility of conventional and STE in evaluation of myocardial function in children with VSD and ASD.All studied patients were subjected to a full medical history, thorough clinical examination, conventional echocardiography as well as speckling tracking. |
