Abstract Femoral shaft fracture in children is one of the common injuries affecting children, it accounts for about 1.6% of all pediatric fractures.Fracture shaft of femur in children can be treated conservatively or surgically. Conservative treatment can lead to many complications, as deformities, shortening and needs long period of hospitalization and bed ridden. The shaft of femur is cylindrical in shape, it is wider in proximal than in the mid shaft and more wider distally. The distal end of femur is characterized by the presence of medial and lateral condyles which articulates with proximal tibia and patella to form knee joint. |
