Abstract

This study aims to solve some problems in poultry industry. A new automatic system was designed to heats poultry houses through winter season in order to improve the performance within it, and overcome decreasing the poultry yield. The new system heating the air in separated room attached to poultry house, and deliver the hot air to heat the poultary house through special metal pipes. where the old heating system (conventional method) depend on heating the shed using open flame (direct flame) causing more pollution and increase in percentage carbon dioxide (CO2) emission. The new heating system aims to increase of using renewable energy sources. Small-recommended digestion was design and used agricultural wastes to supply the new heating system by biogas. When the produced biogas consumed, there is a device used to convert the fuel from produced biogas to LPG. To evaluate the new automatic system, four heating systems were applied they were: Conventional heating with the cylinder of fossil fuel only (LPG), and using direct flame (open flame), Conventional heating with the cylinder of fossil fuel (LPG) or biogas, and using direct flame (open flame), Heating with the manufacturing unit (new system) using of fossil fuel (LPG). Heating with the manufacturing unit using fossil fuel (LPG) and biogas. The obtained data showed that: Using biogas increase poultry body weight.bird-1 after 6 weeks by about 3% approximately, and by about 4% approximately in total body weights compared to conventional system. Applied new technology method (New automatic system) increases poultry body weight.bird-1 by about 175 &163% after first and second week respectively compared to the beginning. Using a new system and biogas increasing the poultry weight. bird-1 after 6 weeks by about 30 %. Generally, applying new system increase feed intake by about 6 and 8% for third and fourth treatments respectively. Feed conservation ratio (FCR) decreased when applied new system, they were 2.65,2.5,2.06,and 1.99 for the four previous testing treatments respectively. FCR decreased by about about 29 and 33%, due to using new system. Using a new system and biogas increasing the survival ratio by about 6%, sequent decrease mortality rate. Using biogas (part – time) increase production efficiency factor (PEF) by about 10.3%. Applying the new heating technique system increase PEF by about 85%.The same trend with energy requirements (ER), the new system helps to reduce total ER by about 53%. While specific energy requirements (SER) highly improving comparing with conventional system by about 66% approximately. The total cost per unit of energy was about 80 EGP.MJ 1 for LPG fuel, where it was about 100 EGP.MJ 1 for biogas fuel. The total costs were 821.8, 874.18, 387.24, and 448.72 LE for the four applied heating systems respectively. Consumed 10.273, 10.302, 4.841, and 4.861 mega joule respectively.
