Abstract

Corneal cross-linking (CXL) is the gold standard procedure for managing progressive keratoconus. CXL treatment increases corneal biomechanical strength, rigidity, and stability by increasing the covalent bonding degree between collagen fibers and proteoglycans. This results not only in halting KC progression but may also lead to a flattening effect and
continued improvement in both topographic and visual parameters over time. This prospective study was done to evaluate corneal epithelial changes after corneal collagen cross linking by using anterior segment optical
coherence tomography.AS-OCT is utilized for epithelial mapping to enable early detection of corneal epithelial changes in patients with keratoconus, monitoring disease progression, assessment of treatment efficacy in keratoconus such as corneal cross-linking. By providing detailed images of the corneal epithelium preand post-treatment, AS-OCT can facilitate the monitoring of changes in epithelial thickness and identification of potential complications or adverse
effects of treatment.
