Abstract In our study, we aim at using the nSOFA score in predicting the outcome of LOS in LBW preterm neonates through comparing the peak score with fate of the case to define the mortality risk factors and make accurate and timely prediction of mortality to alert care providers of impending catastrophe and open a window of opportunity for intervention to change the course. This study included 102 preterm LBW neonates diagnosed to have LOS and since the day of diagnosis, they underwent nSOFA score which was repeated at 48 hours interval, the score assess 3 systems i.e respiratory, cardiovascular and hematological system. The values of the 3 components are summed to give the total nSOFA score then the peak score is compared to the outcome of the illness. According to the outcome, there were 2 groups; survivors(71%) and non survivors (29%). |
