Abstract This study is a cross-sectional analytic study that was conducted aiming to determine whether serum serotonin can be used as diagnostic and prognostic marker for HCC, and the possibility of using it as an indicator of HCC ablation. We included 90 participants; 10 normal healthy individuals considered as control group and 80 patients divided in four groups (20 patients with cirrhosis; 20 patients with early HCC; 20 patients with advanced HCC and 20 patients with ablated HCC). All study groups underwent to the following; history taking, full clinical examination, investigations including (Complete blood count, Liver function tests, Creatinine, serum Alpha- fetoprotein and Serotonin levels) in addition to pelviabdominal (ultrasound and Triphasic CT). |
