Abstract

Summary and Conclusion
This study aimed to assess the mandibular condyle morphology in different
vertical skeletal patterns.
Sixty-six cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) scans were selected
from the archive of Oral Radiology Department, Faculty of Dentistry, Suez Canal
University with no sex prediction, using Scanora, 3Dx cone beam computed
tomography scanner, (Sorredex, Finland) set.
Images from the cone beam computed tomography (CBCT) examinations
will be acquired in a digital DICOM format then imported to OnDemand software
application (OnDemand 3D, cypermed Inc, Korea) where bilateral evaluation of
mandibular condyle will be carried out.
The CBCT scans were divided equally into three groups (22scans in each
group) according to their vertical skeletal pattern.
Angles were extracted from reformatted lateral cephalometry from Cone
Beam Computed Tomography (CBCT)
The CBCT scans were divided into three groups according to their vertical
skeletal pattern:
 group I of normal vertical skeletal pattern
(normodivergent).
 group II of high angle cases (hyperdivergent).
 group III of low angle cases (hypodivergent).
Selective angles of the condylar morphology were measured from the three
groups and were compared.
Summary and conclusion
90
Based on the results of the present study the following conclusion could be
drawn:
1. There is a significant difference in the mean of most of
the angles of the condylar morphology between the normal, high,
and low vertical skeletal patterns.
2. The hypodivergent group (group III) showed higher
significant differences than the other groups regarding the sagittal
and axial plans.
3. the morphology of the mandibular condylar process affects The
difference in the vertical skeletal patterns.
