Abstract

Background: we intend to evaluate FR in mechanically ventilated patients by measuring the ratio of FVD / FAD in mechanically ventilated patients by using US and comparing its accuracy with PPV as a noninvasive parameter
Methods A total sample size of 60 patients (30 in each group) was calculated based on difference in MAP using a power of 80% and alpha of 0.05.
Results : the results of FVD/FAD ratio (ROC) curve analysis showed p-value 0.856 so; the FVD/FAD ratio diagnosed the non-respondent state at no statistically significant level with an 86% Sensitivity (true positive cases) and 33% Specificity (true negative cases) at a cutoff point level ≥ 0.795. we can get better evaluation to FR by combine this parameter with other parameter
Conclusion : FVA/FAD ratio is a good indicator to assess volume status in post ressustation patient who recived fluids but should be combined by other parameters in hypovolemic –pre ressustated -patient to get the highst accurasy
