Abstract

In the last 10 years, the price of steel material has been increasing every day, and the need for more economical structures has become a high priority. As a result, engineers must employ a lighter steel section with a minimum cost of beam fabrication to produce a resendable capacity, especially in bridges having huge plate girders. Thus, studying plate girders is the main concern. Tubular compression flanges well be studied instead of flat flanges. In the meantime, to avoid local buckling, which may happen in the upper tubular flange due to the concentration of loads on the top of the beam, the tubular flange is filled with concrete. This will also increase the capacity of steel beams and give them the benefits of composite sections. To reduce the amount of steel material. Slender webs will be used instead of compact and non-compact webs. Thus, the focus of this study is to investigate the behaviour of concrete filled steel plate girders with tubular flanges and slender webs. Thus, the basic goal of this study is to have a better understanding of the flexural behaviour of the simply supported Concrete Filled Tubular Flange Steel Girders with Slender Web (CFTFSGs-SW) and compare it with hollow tubular flange girders with slender web (HTFSGs-SW) under the two symmetric concentrated loads which provide uniform bending moments in the middle span.
