Abstract The current investigation was carried out during the two successive Seasons of 2017 and 2018 on 8 years old peach trees (Prunus persica L. Batsch) CV.” Florida Prince” grown on ”Nemaguard” rootstock was grown in a newly reclaimed land at a private farm in Wadi El Natroun District, Beheira Governorate, Egypt to study the response of the drought-stressed peaches to foliar application of glycine betaine (GB) and Selenium (Se) on morphological, physiological characteristics, Fruit quality, yield and leaf mineral content. Trees grown under deficit irrigation ”DI70” in sandy soil. Glycine betaine (GB) was uSed to spray the peach tree foliage at 3 levels (0, 25, and 50 mM) and Selenium ”Se” (0, 10, and 20 ppm). The results indicated that the tree was irrigated with the highest amount of irrigation water applied ”FI100” produced the highest significant values of vegetative growth, fruit weight and yield while, ”DI70” treatments significantly decreased vegetative growth. The trees were irrigated with the ”DI70” produced the highest significant values of fruit quality (TSS, fruit firmness), while, ”FI100” treatments significantly decreased fruit quality. Foliar application of GB and Se ameliorated the negative effects of water stress and produced the highest significant values of vegetative growth and physiological characteristics fruit quality, yield and leaf chemical composition, of peach trees grown under ”DI70” can be enhanced by foliar application of GB with 50 mM/L. Key words: vegetative growth, Physiological, fruit quality, Prunus persica, deficit irrigation (DI), glycine betaine (GB), Selenium (Se). |
