Abstract

In conclusion, visual, refractive and corneal topographic changes caused by pterygium improved after successful pterygium surgery which reduces topographic astigmatism and reverses corneal flattening caused by pterygium. Further studies with longer follow-up is warranted to evaluate the long-term outcomes, particularly the recurrence rate.
 Limitations and cosiderations :
In the current study limitations. The small sample size is the first limitation. Also, there was a lack of an appropriate randomization method as well as a control group. It is a single center study with relatively short follow- up period. Most of the cases were males because the study was conducted in the police hospital, which is a categorical hospital.Additional long-term prospective studies with more participants incorporating not only different pterygium surgical techniques but also different topographical devices for the anterior and posterior corneal topographical assessment may be worthwhile.
