Abstract Hysterectomy is the surgical removal of the uterus .It is one of the most common gynecological operations worldwide. It may be done for benign gynecological causes as uterine fibroids and abnormal uterine bleeding (AUB), pelvic organ prolapse, adenomyosis, endometriosis, cervical dysplasia, endometrial hyperplasia, surgical management of a benign adnexal mass, complete hydatidiform mole in women over 40, and (in some instances) chronic pelvic pain. Patients with known genetic predisposition for developing uterine cancer are also candidates for hysterectomy. |
