Abstract Pulmonary fibrosis is a debilitating and potentially fatal medical condition. The present study aimed to investigate the possibility that piceatannol and/or vitamin D could have a promising protective effect on bleomycin-induced pulmonary fibrosis in rats. The bleomycin group exhibited pronounced histopathological and biochemical markers abnormalities, in the lungs. Treatment with piceatannol or vitamin D showed a significant improvement in all evaluated markers. The combination of piceatannol and vitamin D is more effective than using each drug alone. Hence, they demonstrated a synergistic effect. Key words: Piceatannol, Vitamin D, Bleomycin, Pulmonary fibrosis. |
