Abstract The numerical modeling helps to find an optimal solution for the twin tunnel construction. Extensive 2D and 3D numerical models using finite Element programs such as(PLAXIS 2D [1]) and(PLAXIS 3D TUNNEL [2][2]) were performed. The study was performed in four parts as follows,The first part is the single tunnel analysis, which was constructed in a sandy slope, to study the interaction between the tunnel and slope. It’s important to localize where the tunnel is situated in the slope (relative orientation and height of the cover). The main parameters in the 2D model are the tunnel offset (Z), the position, and the slope soil types. Tunnel excavation tends to cause disturbance to the displacement slope so the response of the sandy slope is studied in all cases. |
