Abstract

Detection and histopathologic diagnosis of the most common benign and malignant tumours in dogs and cats. Recording the incidence and prevalence of tumours in dogs and cats at Sharkia governorate. Immunohistochemical diagnosis of some tumours.
A study of 1250.00 pet animals examined for tumorigenic changes from March 2022 to October 2023 at the Faculty of Veterinary, Zagazig University, Egypt. The animals were found to have cutaneous or subcutaneous tumors, mammary tumors, bone tumors, and miscellaneous lesions. The tumors appeared as raised and hairless masses around various parts of the body, including the head, neck, chest, back, abdomen, tail, vulva, and shoulders. Symptoms included redness, loss of pigment, itching, scaly skin, ulcers, bleeding, delayed wound healing, and enlarged lymph nodes. Miscellaneous lesions included fat necrosis, epidermoid cyst, reactive bone fibrosis, and hypertrophic osteoarthropathy, with teratoma representing 27.27% of cases. The study highlights the importance of understanding the skin’s structure and the development of canine cutaneous tumors in pet animals.
