Abstract

The current study investigated the effect of three treatments on obesity induced
non alcoholic fatty liver disease in white albino rats. Thirty rats were classified
into five groups; (control, obese, obese omega-3, obese alogliptin and obese
omega-3+alogliptin). NAFLD revealed by elevated lipid profile, insulin, HOMAIR, oxidative marker MDA. Antioxidative agents GSH, SOD and TAC were
reduced while inflammatory markers TNFα and IL-6 as well as leptin increased.
Adverse influence on liver functions was demonstrated by high levels of liver
transaminases ALT and AST in addition to reduction of both serum albumin and
total proteins. Significantly high level of LFABP was also detected.
Three treatment strategies were tested using omega-3, alogliptin and omega3+alogliptin. All three treatments resulted in significant amelioration nearly in all
tested parameters. The combined effect of both omega-3 and alogliptin produced
the most satisfactory outcome.
