Abstract The causes of thrombocytopenia can be divided into two major groups, a decreased production of platelets e.g aplastic anemia (AA), and a peripheral destruction of platelets e.g immune thrombocytopenia (ITP). Bone marrow examination is the gold standard method for discriminating the causes of thrombocytopenia. is bone marrow examination, but it is invasive and expensive and carries an overt risk of bleeding diathesis. Therefore, it is not recommended as a first‑line diagnostic procedure. PIs, markers of platelet activation, are parameters obtained daily as a part of an automatic blood count. PIs are related to platelet’s morphology and proliferation kinetics. like mean platelet volume (MPV), platelet size deviation width (PDW), and platelet large cell ratio (P-LCR). The aim of this study: This study aimed to explore the validity of platelets indices as diagnostic and prognostic biomarkers in adult thrombocytopenic patients. |
