Abstract

Infection with HCV affects millions of people worldwide. In Egypt, this infection’s prevalence rate is as high as 14.5%. With the introduction of numerous novel antivirals, notably DAAs, the area of HCV treatment has undergone a significant transformation. The most recent data on prevalence were obtained from the national campaign for screening and treatment of HCV in Egypt. An overall prevalence rate of 4.6% for HCV antibody positivity and 3.5% for HCV viremia among the screened cohort (comprising approximately 50 million Egyptians) from 2018 to 2019 was reported according to (Elbahrawy et al., 2021).
