Abstract
This thesis discusses the representation and effect of the American invasion of Iraq on both Iraqi and American society by applying the Neocolonial theory. The term Am-Iraq, which begins only with a part of the name America, but ends with the full name of Iraq, indicates that the war destroys and kills life in the form of orphaning children, killing their innocence, and making women widows. This thesis falls into three chapters, followed by a conclusion. The first chapter deals with Neocolonialism, the second chapter deals with The Corpse Exhibition and Other Stories of Iraq by Hassan Blasim, and falls into five sections, each of which deals with a selected story. The first story deals with “The Corpse Exhibition”, followed by section two, which deals with “The Iraqi christ”. Section three takes a journey to discover “The Nightmares of Carlos Fuentes”, and section four deals with” That Inauspicious Smile”. In the fifth section, the study deals with “The Reality and the Record”. The third chapter is concerned with Princes of War by Claude Schmid. The conclusion includes the thesis findings. Despite all the wars and challenges, the Iraqi people will remain coherent, and plant hope for a better future.
