Abstract

Conduct disorder (CD) is a behavioral disorder characterized by a repetitive and persistent pattern of violating the basic rights of others and major societal norms or rules during childhood or adolescence. Individuals with CD may exhibit aggression towards people or animals, property destruction, deceitfulness, theft and serious violations of rules. It is one of the most prevalent childhood psychiatric disorders and is associated with substantial societal, economic burden and increased risk of antisocial personality disorder in adulthood. The societal effect of CD is profound since it is often associated with a wide range of negative mental and physical health outcomes as well as poor quality of life.
