Abstract

L-glutaminase is a significant enzyme that is utilized in flavor enhancers, enzyme sensors, and medical applications, particularly the treatment of leukemia. Considering this, samples of marine sediment were gathered from various Red Sea coastal areas. Using minimal- glutamine agar media.(MGA) supplemented with substrate (1% .L-glutamine, 0.012%. phenol red, and 3% .NaCl)., a total of 20 L-glutaminase generating actinomycetes strains were identified. Streptomyces were recognized morphologically in all the strains. Out of all isolates, a maximum glutaminase productivity of (12.220±0.95 U/ml) was recorded by isolate S1 (isolated from mangrove sediment, Safaga ) by submerged fermentation. The chosen isolate was recognized using morphological, biochemical, and molecular as Streptomyces gresiorubens (GenBank, Accession No. (OR462786). On the fifth day, the highest enzyme productivity was noted.
