Abstract

Background: Atherosclerosis can lead to serious health problems and medical emergencies and need healthy lifestyle. Aim: This study aimed to assess lifestyle for patients with coronary artery atherosclerosis. Research design: Descriptive exploratory research design was used to achieve the aim of the current study. Setting: This study was conducted in the cardiac care unit and cardiac clinic at Dar-El Salam Oncology Hospital, Egypt. Subjects: The study included 150 patients who have coronary artery atherosclerosis. Tools: Data were collected by three main tools namely; sociodemographic characteristics, knowledge Interview questionnaire, and lifestyle health behavior adapted from healthy heart score test. Results: The result revealed that, 82.7% of the studied patients had satisfactory level of knowledge regarding coronary atherosclerosis, and only 17.3% of them had unsatisfactory level of knowledge regarding coronary atherosclerosis. And 86.7% of the studied patients had positive healthy style at total level of social aspect and well-being. Also 62% of the studied patients had negative healthy style at total level of physical and mental health. And 64% of the studied patients had positive healthy style at total level of stress management. Conclusion: the study concluded that, more than half of the studied patients had positive level of life style health behavior regarding coronary atherosclerosis, Recommendations: Designing and implementing the continuous systemically educational guidelines for patients with coronary artery atherosclerosis, developing and dissemination of educational guidelines in media such as: mobiles applications to improve lifestyle behaviors among patients with coronary artery atherosclerosis.
