Abstract Addiction is defined as a chronic relapsing neurobiological brain disease. The rate of drug addiction in Egypt is twice the global rate so development of new preventive and treatment modalities is crucial. One of the most insidious features of opioid addiction is the tendency to relapse on the drug even weeks, months or years after stoppage of opioid use. Craving is the intense desire to take a drug again which is a prominent feature for heroin use disorder. Relapse to drug seeking after abstinence is a fundamental challenge for the treatment of drug use disorder, and rates of relapse remain largely high despite the advanced program that has been made in the field of drug use disorder over the last decades. |
