Abstract
Pure alumina gel was prepared by the addition of ammonium hydroxide to a solution of hydrated aluminum chloride at 35°c with continuous vigorous stirring. The precipitate was washed several time with bidistilled water till free from chloride ions. Platinum-alumina, molybdenum-alumina, nickel-alumina and cobalt-alumina catalysts were prepared by impregnating the pure alumina gel with chloroplatinic acid, susbended molybdenum oxide, nickel nitrate and cobalt nitrate respectively.
