Abstract
The synthesis & Structure elucidation of ring-fusion isomer(1) : reductive amination of the ketone II, which in turn was synthesized via cyclization of the acid III using polyphosphoric acid.
Reduction of the acid IV using LiAH4 gave the desired alcohol V. When V was treated with hydrobromic acid, followed by reaction of the bromide derivative VI with pot. cyanide, it gives the cyano-derivative VII.
