Abstract The aim of the present investigation was to study the influence of water stress, as induced by salinization, on the assimilation of nitrogenous constituents and organic acids, either alone or fertified with carbon and phosphorus sources, during germination of cotton seeds. Treatment of cotton seeds with NaCl caused an osmotic inhibition of water absorption and induced a steady decline in dry matter for above that observed in water controls. |
