Abstract
The objective of the present study was to investigate changes in the permeability of untreated castor and broad beans and as influenced by treatment with Na CL, Na2 SO4, mannitol and mannose during periods of germination up to 48 hours. Progressive uptake of water was observed throughout the experimental period. The water taken up by treated seeds was consistently lower than water uptake by untreated ones.
