Abstract
The present work deals mainly with the planktonic foraminifera, biostratigrophy, chronostratigraphy, paleoenvironments of the subsurface Miocene section of Materiya well no. 1 (Lat. 31 12 22 N ; Long 31 57 16 E, northeast Nile Delta area, Egypt. The total thickness of the studied section is 1858 m, ranging in depth from 2285 m to 4142 m (T.D), and including a complete series of 729 cutting samples and only 3 available core samples. These samples were provided by the international Egyptian Oil Company (IEOC).
