Abstract

In this thesis, a narrow coastal strip between Port Said and Bardawil lake has been chosen for study. It lies between latitudes 31 00 and 31 30 N and longitudes 32 10 and 32 45 E. The study suggested for the area is concerned with the changes it has suffered since Aswan High Dam has been constructed in 1964. The period from 1955 to 1977 has been particularly chosen because aerial photographs and topographic maps covering this part of the coast during this period are available, in addition to landsat -1 imagery of 1972 / 1973. With the help of these photographs and maps it has been possible to record the geomorphic features characterizing the coastal strip under study and follow thier changes in the period from 1955 to 1977.
