Abstract The petrographic studies of the collected samples reveals the following : The grain analysis of sandstone samples is evidenced that the succession is divisable according to textural composition into a lower sandy unit showing a fining upward sequance and an upper carbonate dominating unit but the grain size analysis of fine grain clastics show that silt and clay contents increase upward, and increase ubruptly at the contact between sandstone member (I) and Reefal limestone member (II) of Um Mitmam Formation, silt and clay contents take the upward sequence exhibited by the coarse clastics (Finings upward sequence). |
