Abstract The two body problem has been proved to be useful in understanding the basic properties of the nuclear forces. Many efforts have been done in order to represent the repulsive nature of the nucleon - nucleon interaction at short distances by means of a hard core potential that suddenly becomes repulsive at the core radius. This potential is successful in interpretting the binding energy of some light nuclei, still the abrupt change in the interacting force at this very small distance needs to be explained. |
