Abstract In order to prepare the ion gases (light and heavy hydrogen ) needed for the nuclear accelerator in Alexandria, we have made some attempts in order to concentrate D2 O in natural water (abundance = 0.015%) to considrable values. For its simplicity, ease of operation and high electrolytic separation factor we had chosen the electrolysis methods for concentrating the heavy water. The main problem we had faced was the oxidation and corrosion of the electrodes, mainly the anode ones. |
