Abstract In the present work a completely transistorised coincidence spectrometer which could be used to study direct and coincidence gamma spectra is partially constructed. The constructed electronic circuits, their characteristics and performance are presented. The spectrometer was tested using 22Na and 60Co radioactive standard sources. The spectrometer was then used to study the direct and coincidence - spectra for the decay of 152Eu. In addition, a quantitative study of the gain stability as a function of counting rate for 56 AVP photomultiplier tubes at different chain resistor currents and output time constants is presented. |
