Abstract The work presented in this thesis has two main objectives: One is to devise a new class of alloptical logic gates based on a planar optical grating switches, which realized in a glass substrate by the double ion exchange technique. The second is to propose a novel design of computation module for residue arithmetic. A possible design for the module is also presented by using the double ion exchange diffraction grating. Moreover, this thesis describes the investigation and scanning review of the optical computing field, the optical diffraction grating devices, and the residue arithmetic algorithm. |
