Abstract 1Six Coleopterous insect pests were collected from three wheat storage located at Dakahelia Governorate. These insects pests were Sitophilus oryzae, Sitophilus granarius, Trogoderma granarium, Tribolium castaneum, Tribolium confusum and Rhizopertha dominica. 2 The primary insects affected the grain characteristics with highly significant differences. Moreover, the weather factors affected the percentage of insect infestations with highly significant differences. 3 The number of eggs/ female, the percentage of hatchability and the number of emerged progeny for S. oryzae and T. granarium, Sakha 8 was the most preferred wheat variety and TriHybrid 322 was the most preferred maize variety according to Non choice test or choice test. 4 The larvalpupal stage, oviposition period, post oviposition period and female longevity of S. oryzae and T. granarium varied according to the tested wheat and maize varieties with significant differences. On the other hand, the incubation period and the preoviposition period as well as the number of eggs/female were slightly affected with insignificant differences between the tested and maize wheat varieties. 5 Insect infestation reduced grain weight in all wheat or maize varieties where Sakha 69 and Sakha 8 were found to be the highest wheat varieties in weight reduction. On the other hand, maize varieties TriHybrid 322 and TriHybriid 324 showed the highest weight reduction |
