Abstract

Textile materials on weaving machine namely., warp yarns, filling yarns and fabrics are subjected to various types of dynamic stresses during weaving. Warp yarns undergo tensile, bending and friction stresses, whereas filling yarns are exposed to tensile, bending, friction and beat <U+2013> up forces. During weaving, fabrics on the weaving machines are subjected to tension in two directions namely., longitudinal and traverse. Warp yarn tension and fabric tension within a weaving cycle are a variable. The highest stress on the warp yarns is reached at the moment when the shed is open and at the moment of the reed beat <U+2013> up. As the filling yarn is being pushed into the cloth fell the longitudinal fabric tension decreases to a minimum value, while the traverse fabric tension rises to a peak. In the course of this study, an electronic measuring device was built <U+2013> up to record and measure the dynamic warp and fabric tension simultaneously during weaving. The results of tension values were plotted and the tension traces were accurately analyzed and investigated for crankshaft rotation angle, beat <U+2013> up and shed timing. The effects of weaving machine and filling yarn parameters such as, filling yarn density, basic tension of warp yarn, filling yarn twist and filling yarn count on the average value of the dynamic warp and fabric tension were also studied. The findings of this study revealed that Filling yarn density is positively correlated with the warp and fabric tension. On the contrary, the filling yarn count and filling twist factor were found to have a negative correlation with the warp and fabric tension. The filling yarn twist had a positive correlation with the traverse fabric tension. As the basic tension of the warp yarn increases the average value of the warp and fabric tension increases.
