Abstract This study was performed in Internal Medicine & Infectious and Fish Diseases Dept. Fac.Of Vet. Medicine, Mansoura University to: 1. Investigate the presence of BEF in cattle through serosurvey carried out on randomly collected serum samples. 2. Make a trial to isolate BEF virus from suspected naturally infected cattle. 3. Estimate the immune response of cattle to locally produced live and inactivated BEF vaccines. 4. Follow up the maternal immunity induced in calves born to vaccinated dams with inactivated BEF vaccine. 5. Study some biochemical parameters in naturally infected cattle and also in vaccinated cattle with locally produced live and inactivated BEF vaccines. 1st : Detection of clinical signs on diseased animals. 2nd: Both qualitative and quantitative tests were carried out on cattle sera of infected cattle during summer 20002001to estimate the titer of BEF neutralizing antibodies . 3rd : Vaccination 9 bulls were divided into three groups ( 3 in each group): Group 1: was injected by inactivated BEF vaccine in two doses 2ml/sc with two weeks intervals. Group 2: The 1st dose was injected using live attenuated BEF vaccine 2ml/sc and the 2nd dose by inactivated BEF vaccine with four week apart. Group 3: was kept a control and injected by normal saline 2ml/sc with 2 weeks intervals. The seven pregnant cattle at last stage of pregnancy were divided into two groups: Group 4: five pregnant cattle were injected by inactivated BEF vaccine at last month of pregnancy in two doses 2ml/sc with two weeks intervals. The 2nd dose before expected parturition by 2 weeks. Group 5: two pregnant cattle were kept as a control and injected by normal saline with 2 weeks intervals. |
