Abstract

This research work was directed towards discovering a new effective technology for handling biogas manure. The main objectives of this study were apply drying technology to biogas manure in order to decrease the drying time and to decrease the amount of product for handling. Also, to study the effect of different types of chemical at different concentrations, temperatures and air velocities on drying process, drying time and Nitrogen, Phosphorus and Potassium percentage. The manufactured and installed at in the Agricultural Research Institute. It consisted of three units; air delivery unit, heating unit and drying bed. Experimental data describing thinlayer drying behavior of biogas manure were obtained to test the effects of temperatures (25, 50 and 75oC), air velocities (5, 10 and 15 m/sec), the chemicals (Alum Potassium Sulphate, Ferric Chloride and Acrylamide) at concentrations (0.0, 0.25, 0.50, 0.75 and 1.0 kg/Mg liquid biogas manure) on drying behavior, drying time and (NPK%). The results of this research work indicated that the drying process of liquid biogas manure consisted of two distinct stages, constant drying rate period and falling drying rate period which may be described by two different equations. The obtained results showed also that adding chemicals at different concentrations had a significant effect on the drying process and hence on the drying time. * Drying biogas manure may be considered as an effective cheap technology for handling the manure. * Adding chemical to the manure may help in speeding up the drying process. * The results showed that Alum is the best material used in this study that because it is cheap and gave the best results for drying process. * Air temperature of 75 oC and air velocity of 15 m/s represents the best conditions for drying biogas manure since it gave the lowest drying time.
