Abstract

This study has carried out on some nuclear reactions by using the Egyptian Cyclotron, it is a useful tool to study the excitation functions for some reactions that producing radionuclides of importance in the field of nuclear medicine. Through this study samples of thin foil of natural Mo and Gd were irradiated with beam of protons to produces numbers of Tc and Tb isotopes. These radionuclides have a suitable half-lives, decay modes, and radiation energy that candidate them to be used in nuclear medicine. It is noted from the obtained results that it is possible to produce these radionuclides by using Inshas Cyclotron Facility with a considerable amounts. The radionuclides produced through this study support the diagnosis and therapy techniques used in nuclear medicine. The obtained data denote to the accuracies in beam flux, beam energy, and the measurements of the produced activities are of most importance to gain a precise data. In this study we also could not neglect the secondary neutron beam contribution in increasing the produced radionuclides, to deal with this phenomenon an approach to estimate this contribution has been drived.
