Abstract This study was conducted on twenty patients submitted to Urology & Nephrology Center, Mansoura University for radical cystectomy and bladder substitution. They were preoperatively examined and underwent the following laboratory investigations : Hb, Hct, Na+, K+ and liver function. On the morning of surgery all patients were monitored for heart rate-non invasive blood pressure and oxygen saturation. Radial artery cannulation was carried out preoperatively under local anaesthesia for invasive blood pressure monitoring and arterial blood gasometry. For all patients bolus epidural analgesia was carried out between L2-L3 using mixture of 12 ml bupiva<?aine 0.5 0/0 and 2 mg morphine sulphate. Patients were randomly classified into two groups according to anaesthetic modalities used . Group I : Halothane nitrous oxide - oxygen. Group II : patients were anaesthetized with titrates - Ketamine -midazolam-fentanyl infusion occording to patient’s body weight. In both groups vecuronium was used as non depolarizing muscle relaxant. |
